Warragul & District Lapidary Club Inc.

Become a Rockhound today and enjoy discovering this fascinating hobby, learning about all facets of rocks, minerals, fossils and gemstones.

On 8 February 1978 the Warragul & District Lapidary Club was formed at Nilma by a group of enthusiastic Rockhounds wishing to promote the art of Lapidary. Workshops were first held at the home of Cliff Crosman, one of the founding members.
In 1998 a plot of land in the Logan Park Show Grounds was leased to the Club by the Baw Baw Shire, on which a new Clubroom was built by members, and after 21 years members could enjoy their hobby in a new, very up to date workshop and facilities which include cutting, grinding and polishing wheels, a faceting machine and silver smithing and enamelling workbenches.
In 2003 a new saw room was built onto the existing club rooms, enabling club members to cut large rocks with a 24” diamond saw. The Clubrooms also houses a large collection of minerals and gemstones.
